Shannon McFarlin

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, 123019

Hello, my name is Shannon, I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist in the Coachella Valley. I bring kindness, compassion, and humor to the counseling process and have experience helping people explore how childhood experiences and/or intergenerational trauma are impacting current relationships; manage difficult life transitions; recover from abusive relationships; navigate family of origin issues; and develop coping strategies to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. I’m also passionate about issues facing women and the LGBTQIA+ community. My approach to treatment is collaborative, strengths-based, and solution-focused, using a combination of Psychodynamic, Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment to explore anything that is troubling you. I hold an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Seattle, and am certified in Brené Brown’s work on shame, vulnerability and resilience, as well as trained in family systems, narcissistic and emotional abuse, attachment disorders, domestic abuse later in life, and childhood traumatic grief. Therapy is a big step and I look forward to helping you.
