Maureen Riley
I am a dedicated clinican with a compassionate approach, I provide therapy for clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and sexual orientations, specializing in addressing issues such as life stress, trauma, anxiety, career and relationships. I am also an LGBTQ+ and BIPOC ally.
Committed to fostering a safe, nonjudgmental environment for healing, I recognizes the role of self judgement in driving pain and actively support clients in releasing barriers to achieving happy, healthy, and authentic lives. I am solution focused and employ a wide range of modalities including somatic experiencing and mindfulness, where I help my clients connect mind and body. I also use inner child work to assist clients in identifying patterns to let go of what no longer serves them.
I use humor, kindness and empathy in my sessions and draw on my personal journey of being in long term recovery. I have done my own healing and carry a deep understanding of the transformative power of therapy. I have worked in a community therapy center, homeless housing, crisis residential treatment and dual diagnosis addiction treatment with individuals, couples, groups and families.
I have led an interesting life. I worked as an English Teacher in Thailand, Seattle and Los Angeles. I also worked in management at a Fortune 500 company in Seattle and a major educational institution in Southern California. When I am not working or traveling, you can find me in the ocean (or a pool) or hiking one of the many local trails with my dogs, Milo and Pearl.
